PERSONAL DETAILS AND INTERESTS
My therapeutic approach is to be understanding, not judgmental.
I find it important for you to feel trusted, and like you are an equal in your own therapy. After all, while I may be an expert in psychology, you are the expert of ‘you’.
I am a registered clinical psychologist, who uses evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy (NT) to tailor my approach to help all my clients understand, and work through, their challenges.
I am also an academic at Deakin University, where I teach, research, and have written lectures for clinical and cross-cultural psychology subjects.
EXPERIENCE (AREAS OF EXPERTISE)
I have studied, practiced, and researched interstate and internationally, working in locations such as rural Queensland, Adelaide, and Osaka, Japan. My most recent research project on Indigenous Australian issues was also presented in Prague at the International Congress of Psychology.
Generally, I am experienced in mood disorders such as Depression, Anxiety disorders such as Phobias, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. However I also have had specific training and experience with the following:
- Student/Academic concerns,
- Disability (including Autism Spectrum Disorder),
- Performance Arts related issues, and
- Cross Cultural Psychology (including Indigenous Australian culture).
